1. Your subscription to Tutorition
In short
Try it free for a day before you pay. After that, cancel whenever you like and you will not be billed again — but the period you are already in is not refunded, unless something on our side went wrong.
- Free trial: 7 days for students and 1 day for counselors, no card needed. Nothing is charged unless you choose to buy a plan.
- Cancelling: cancel any time from your billing page. Your access runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and there is no further charge.
- Part-used periods: we do not refund the remainder of a month or year you have already started.
- Charged by mistake: if you were billed after cancelling, or billed twice, tell us and we refund it in full.
- Extended outage: if the service is unavailable for a long stretch through our fault, ask us and we will credit or refund that time.
- Annual plans: within 14 days of your first annual payment, if you have barely used the service, ask us and we will refund it.
UK and EU customers who are consumers rather than businesses have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a distance contract. Because the service starts immediately at your request, we may charge for what you used before cancelling. This policy does not take away that right.
To ask for a refund, email hello@tutorition.com from the address on the account. We answer within one working day, and an approved refund goes back to the original card within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
2. Payments students make to their institute
In short
When a student buys a plan from an institute, the institute is the seller and the money goes to the institute. Refunds are the institute's decision, and students should ask the institute, not us.
Institutes that use Tutorition to charge their own students connect their own Stripe account. They set the prices, they receive the money, and they set their own refund terms — which they must publish to their students. We are not the seller and cannot refund a student directly.
3. What our tools do for institutes
- An institute admin can refund a student's one-time payment from the payments page for 14 days after it was paid. An institute can set a different window, or remove the limit. After that, the refund is made from the institute's own Stripe dashboard.
- A refund can be for the whole payment or part of it. A full refund removes the access that payment gave the student; a partial refund leaves their access in place.
- A refund never removes a student from a class the institute had added them to by hand — only the access the payment itself granted.
- Subscriptions are cancelled at the end of the paid period, so the student keeps what they paid for.
- Our platform fee is returned to the institute in proportion to the refund, so a refunding institute is not out of pocket for our share. Stripe's own processing fee is not returned by Stripe.
4. Card disputes
If a student asks their bank to reverse a payment, Stripe holds the amount and asks the institute for evidence, with a deadline. The institute submits that evidence in Stripe; we show the dispute and its outcome on the payments page and email the institute's administrators. A dispute that is lost removes the access the payment gave the student, and Stripe charges the institute a dispute fee. A dispute nobody responds to is lost automatically.
