SAT Test Prep

What is the SAT Test?

The SAT is a crucial exam for college admissions in the US, used by colleges to gauge students' readiness for college.

Students can take the SAT multiple times throughout the year, with no limits on how often they can attempt it. This allows students to retake the test until they achieve the scores they’re aiming for.

Both American and international students are eligible to take the SAT.

SAT Test Scores

The SAT is scored based on the scores of each section. The total score is between 400 and 1600, whereas individual sections, namely Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math, score between 200 and 800. Scores are derived from raw scores, which reflect the number of questions answered correctly. Importantly, there is no penalty for incorrect answers on the SAT.

Percentile Score

SAT scores are also reported as percentiles to give students and colleges a view of how a student's performance compares to others, including other SAT takers, and a cross-sectional representation of 11th and 12th graders. The total score – ranging from 400 to 1600 – aggregates test results:

  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 200–800
  • Math:200–800
  • Essay (listed separately): 200–800

The Digital SAT (dSAT)

The Digital SAT (dSAT) is a new digital SAT developed to assess students' readiness for college. Here's a quick overview of what you might want to know:

Overview

  • The dSAT test is a computer-based examination and not a paper-and-pencil test.
  • It is similar in content to the paper SAT with its three sections, Reading, Writing and Language, and Math.
  • It is in the computer-adaptive format, which means the difficulty level of questions will be adjusted according to your performance.
