General
What is Tutorition?+
A test-prep platform for tutors, students and counselors. Tutors build timed mock tests, students take them under real exam conditions, and everyone gets instant results with a written and spoken explanation for every mistake. There is also career guidance.
Who is Tutorition for?+
Tutors, students and counselors in the US and UK. Tutors build tests and assign them to batches of students. Students sit tests, review their mistakes and practice. Counselors work from assessments and exam results to guide what comes next.
Which exams are supported?+
Any exam a tutor writes questions for. We have exam guides for the SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, GCSE, A-Level, IELTS and TOEFL.
Do you provide tutors?+
No. Tutorition isn't a tutor marketplace and has no live lessons. Your tutor builds the tests here, and the AI tutor is a chat assistant, not a person.
Is Tutorition affiliated with any exam owner?+
No. Tutorition isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the College Board, ACT, ETS, GMAC, LSAC, the IELTS partners or any UK exam board.
Does it work on my phone?+
Yes. Tutorition runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install. For a long, timed test, a laptop or tablet is easier to read and type on.
How do I contact you?+
Email hello@tutorition.com.
Who can see my data?+
A student's results are used by the tutor who set the test, and by a counselor if the student works with one. For what we collect, why, and how we protect it, read our Privacy Policy.
What about students under 18?+
Where consent from a parent or guardian is required, for example under COPPA and FERPA in the US or UK GDPR, it has to be in place before a student uses Tutorition. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle student data.
For tutors
How do I sign up?+
Choose “Tutor” when you register. You don't need a credit card.
How do I get my students into Tutorition?+
Put students into batches, which are groups such as a class or a tutoring group. Each batch has a join code and link that you can share, so students can join it themselves after creating an account.
What analytics do I get?+
Per-test results: score, percentile, rank, and section, topic and question analysis. You also see which topics your students keep missing, and you can print a class report as a PDF.
Can I hold results until I'm ready?+
Yes. You can hold a test's results and release them when you choose, for example after everyone in the batch has finished.
Can I change the grade on a written answer?+
Yes. For written answers the AI gives a suggested score, and you can enter your own grade in its place.
For students
I'm a student. How do I sign up?+
Choose “Student” when you register, then log in with your email and password. If your tutor gave you a join code, you can enter it to join their batch.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Students get a 7-day free trial with no credit card. After that, choose a 1, 6 or 12-month plan — one payment, and it doesn't renew. See Pricing.
What happens if my internet drops during a test?+
Every answer autosaves and the timer runs on the server. Short offline drops are handled, and you can resume where you stopped once you're back.
When do I see my results?+
As soon as you submit: your score, percentile, rank and a written and spoken explanation for each mistake. If your tutor chose to hold results, you'll see them once your tutor releases them.
Do I need a tutor to use it?+
No. You can create your own account and use the practice, study plan, AI tutor, writing practice and career guidance without joining a batch. Tests built by a tutor appear when you join their batch.
Exams & questions
Do tutors have to write all the questions?+
You can import an existing bank from CSV or Excel, write questions in the editor, or let the AI draft questions on any topic. AI drafts never reach students until a tutor approves them.
Which question types are supported?+
Multiple choice, multi-select, numeric entry and passage-based questions, with images and LaTeX math.
How flexible is the test builder?+
Tests can have sections with their own timers, custom marking schemes, shuffling, section lock, a question palette and mark-for-review. You can also draw random questions by topic.
Do you provide official exam questions?+
No. Tutorition doesn't supply official test content and has no ready-made question bank. Questions come from the tutor, or from AI drafts the tutor approves.
Which parts use AI?+
Question drafting (a tutor approves every draft), the written and spoken explanation of each mistake, the AI tutor chat, the study plan, feedback on writing practice, the suggested score on written answers, and the first draft of a career report. A tutor or counselor reviews the results that matter.
Career guidance
What is included in career guidance?+
Psychometric assessments (Big Five personality (IPIP), RIASEC interests, aptitude and emotional skills), a career report, counseling session scheduling and notes, and a US/UK college explorer with a chancing calculator and shortlists.
I'm a counselor. How do I sign up?+
Choose “Counselor” when you register. You start with a 1-day free trial and don't need a credit card.
Do students see AI-written reports straight away?+
No. Reports are drafted from assessment and exam data, then a counselor reviews, edits and finalizes them before students see them.
How are admission chances estimated?+
By comparing the student's scores with each college's admissions profile in our catalog. They're a guide for building a balanced shortlist, not a guarantee.
Free trial & pricing
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. Students get a 7-day free trial, and counselors get 1 day. No credit card required.
How much does it cost?+
Pricing is being finalised, so we can't give you a figure yet. Questions? Email hello@tutorition.com.
