About Me

I taught in schools for a number of years, after getting my BA(HONS) in Drama and Creative Writing, and my Post Graduate Certificate in Education in English and Theatre. For the last 17 I have been providing English online classes for speakers of other languages. My students have had great success with school exams and certificates like IELTS and CAE. Business students have reported high satisfaction with their studies when communicating with colleagues in other countries, giving presentations and applying for new posts. I love teaching like this and meeting people from all over the world, helping them improve their level and develop real confidence in using English. My classes are bespoke - they are focussed on you and your needs, and we tailor each course to your requirements

Hello, my name is Chris and I live in England, near Oxford. I studied Theatre predominantly at university, both at degree level and PGCE, and have a great love of the language. I am not a theatre snob though, I love films, Kdramas and reading fiction (non-fiction puts me to sleep!) I love to learn about other cultures, so I may well learn as much from you as you do from me :)

Each class is 50 minutes. We will start with a general chat about your week/weekend, then move on to checking any homework you might have done, before moving onto the day's lesson. We will work with books for resources, along with video and audio files,, your own creations and topics from the world around us. A strong emphasis is placed on grammar, and I will provide you a "class outline", which contains new vocabulary and pronunciation corrections, at the end of most lessons. We finish the class with setting homework and confirming the next class. All lessons are held in a relaxed and informal manner, and really you govern what we will do and the pace: these are YOUR lessons.
